A lifetime of service, a vision for New York's future, and an unwavering commitment to the people he serves.
His Story
Sam Sutton grew up understanding that New York is more than a place — it's a promise. A promise of opportunity, of community, of a city and state where hard work is rewarded and every voice is heard. It's a promise Sam has spent his career fighting to keep.
"New Yorkers don't want empty rhetoric. They want a senator who shows up, listens, and fights for results. That's exactly what I intend to be."
Raised on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Sam attended New York public schools and went on to earn his degree from City University of New York. From an early age, he was drawn to civic life — volunteering in his neighborhood, advocating for tenants' rights, and working with local organizations to improve conditions in his community.
After years of community organizing and civic advocacy, Sam stepped into a more formal public service role, serving on community boards, working alongside elected officials, and building a network of partnerships with nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and labor unions across the state.
Now, Sam is ready to take that experience to Albany. He's running for NYS Senate because he believes New York deserves representation that is honest, responsive, and dedicated to the long-term wellbeing of all its residents — not just the well-connected few.
What Drives Him
Sam believes politics must be grounded in honesty. He'll tell New Yorkers the truth — even when it's difficult — and hold himself to the same standard he holds others.
Every decision Sam makes is rooted in community impact. He listens before he acts, and centers the voices of working families, seniors, and young people.
Real change requires courage. Sam isn't afraid to take on powerful interests when they stand in the way of progress for ordinary New Yorkers.
Sam knows that the best results come from working together. He'll build coalitions across party lines to deliver practical solutions for New York.
